About Causalis
Causalis Limited was founded by Peter Bernard Ladkin in 1998, and is registered in England and Wales, Company Number 3639514, Registered Office 20-22 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4JS.
German business for Causalis is conducted by Causalis Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Handelsregister Bielefeld HRB 42045.
We specialise in the analysis of complex safety- and security-critical systems, and develop leading-edge investigation methods such as Why-Because Analysis (WBA) and Ontological Hazard Analysis (OHA) as well as software utilities to support these methods.
Our experience lies mainly in investigation of failures in complex systems in aviation, rail, and marine environments and the development of safety requirements using formally-structured approaches. Causalis personnel engage in international standardisation work through the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Our Profile
Leading-edge investigation methods
Why-Because Analysis
Using Why-Because Analysis you can effectively identify and analyse misbehaviour of systems. WBA delivers a complete, detailed but easy-to-understand representation of system-behaviour. On this basis critical interactions in systems become obvious and countermeasures can be very effectively applied. You can profit from our considerable experience with the analysis of system behaviour and the application of Why-Because-Analysis.
Ontological Hazard Analyis
Ontological Hazard Analysis is a formal and rigorous safety requirements analysis method for system-development and modification of existing systems. Ontological Hazard Analysis also offers a detailed documentation of the system and the implied risks.
Consulting on Safety and Security
We offer advice and analysis on all aspects of safety-critical technical and socio-technical systems, in particular Hazard and Incident Analysis, Safety-Requirements Analysis, Risk Analysis, Failure Analysis and Accident Analysis.
Professional Education
We provide tutorials and training courses on formal methods and analysis techniques conformant with the international standard for functional safety IEC 61508.
Supplying you with software utilities
We supply tools for causal analysis of the behaviour of heterogeneous engingeered systems, in particular the SERAS™ software suite for Why-Because Analysis.
